The UK OPTICAL DESIGN MEETING(S)(UKODM's)
began c.1965 as a series of professional optical design meetings held at the Blackett Laboratory, Imperial College London. The meetings were initially organized by Professor Charles Wynne and Michael Kidger, first on an annual basis, but later on a semi-annual basis, as their popularity grew. Prudence Wormell, who aided with this historical sketch, assisted in the organization and management of the meetings. Jonathan Maxwell took control of the meetings, c.1982, when Michael and Tina Kidger formed Kidger Optics although Michael continued along with Jonathan to organize and manage the meetings. The meetings eventually migrated to University College London under the leadership of Richard Bingham.
|
After the passing of both Michael Kidger (1998) and Richard Bingham (2005) a brief interruption in the series of
meetings occurred. The meetings were resumed again in 2006 by Tina Kidger, Kidger Optics Associates, and Andy Wood, Qioptiq.
