“My word, thank you so much for your lovely book, which arrived today – you have made me feel extremely proud to be a part of it! The book is so beautifully presented, you must be very proud too. And you’ve been so kind to me with your generous words about my involvement, you really have made my day.”

"Have loved looking at the book which arrived last Wednesday... One thing which was amazing... opposite...your brother's letter about the ducks was one about the airship over Redditch. Gt. Grandma Dyer, Martin James daughter, ran down Alcester Street, and climbed up the fire escape at Milward's Needle factory to get a better view of the airship. On the way down she slipped and fell, and died next day of the injuries she sustained. How very strange that those two pieces should appear next to each other!...uncanny.

"So many things have triggered off memories of people and places long forgotten. Thank you so much. I have sent copies to the cousins yesterday and I'm sure they will be as thrilled as I am."

“I have by now had a chance to have a pretty good look at your book, and please accept my congratulations for a project so successfully seen to a conclusion. As an archivist (and with a wife whose father was born in Redditch in 1915) I particularly valued those parts which gave insights into the social and local history of the area.”

"I’m thoroughly enjoying dipping into Roy Webb’s reflections, observations and opinions – a fascinating insight into a world (although just a moment in time away) that is almost unrecognisable. Catching a pike, The enchanted cottage and Bird-song in spring paint lovely pictures of lives made richer by their connecting to nature. Wildlife today is in trouble and I hope [your] book inspires this and future generations to take action to give nature a home."

“… can see the immense amount of hard work and research that has gone into producing this fascinating insight into Roy's thoughts and the local history....and your additions /pictures tie the whole thing together. Congratulations!”

“Years ago I used premium fish hooks to tie flies. The brand was "Partridge of Redditch" which were considered the best hooks in those days and were imported from England. It is nice that you could include Ed's photo of the very rare [American] grey squirrel with the white tipped tail.

Grandmother Gazey had a hard and most amazing life. Few women could today survive under such difficult circumstances. She was a saint!”

“…I did enjoy the book immensely. I found it made me quite emotional at times and particularly enjoyed the first few chapters relating to [Roy's] younger years. I have … past it on to my Aunty who lives in Birmingham but spent many years around this area and has spent her retirement years researching family trees ….”

“…many thanks for the lovely book. I am so enjoying it, but do notice it has disappeared from my coffee table. Son Steve asked if he could borrow it after noticing conservation, which I'm sure is his first love, and secondly birds which he is also passionate about. I know it will be returned.”

“…book…tells a remarkable story of a family member and is a gem of history. …many hours of research…so well done it’s a great…achievement.”

“I have read it through a couple of times now - and it has left me with the strong desire to go and visit Redditch soon and see it for myself.”
