The Michael Kidger Memorial Scholarship was established in 1998 to honour Michael John Kidger, a well-respected educator, design software developer and member of the optical science and engineering community. The 2008 award is anticipated to consist of a study grant of $5,000. The award will be presented at the SPIE Europe Optical Systems Design symposium, Glascow, Scotland, U.K. 2 - 5 September, 2008. The selection criteria for the scholarship are:
Guidelines for the letters of recommendation:
The two letters of recommendation that a candidate submits to the committee will play an important role in the selection of the winning candidate. It is therefore in each candidate’s best interests to obtain letters that most adequately describe their abilities and potential contributions to the field of optical design.
