The 2013 Michael Kidger Memorial Scholarship is partially supported by Qioptiq in memory of David Lingwood who worked as an optical designer at the St. Asaph facility in North Wales.

MICHAEL KIDGER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
IN OPTICAL DESIGN

The Michael Kidger Memorial Scholarship was established in 1998 to honour Michael John Kidger, a well-respected educator, design software developer and member of the optical science and engineering community. The award is a grant award which is expected to be increased in 2013 to a value of $6,000. 

The scholarship awardee chosen for 2013 is Tamer Tawfik Elazhary, a Ph.D student at the college of Optical Sciences, University of Arizona under the direction of Professor Jim Burge. The award is expected to be presented to Tamer by Tina Kidger at the SPIE Optics + Photonics Symposium, San Diego, California, 25 to 29 August, 2013.
